26 Adventures & Me

what is adventure

What is an adventure?

An adventure can be whatever you make it.

I do not believe that adventures need to involve travel, life-threatening situations, or anything extreme.

Seriously! Have you read about my original list of 26? It includes everything from going to see a concert outside Philly by myself to getting a dental implant and everything in between.

It is all about that adventure mindset! It’s all about how you look at the experience.

Is it an adventure?

  • Have you recently learned a new skill? Maybe you cooked something sous-vide for the first time.
  • When was the last time you took a road trip to nowhere? I think we all did that over the past year.
  • Done something that made you apprehensive? I was definitely, and still am, nervous about making reels.
  • During quarantine, did you see someone else do online, attempt it, fail, and then laughed until you had tears in your eyes?

All of those could be considered adventure!

My “Definition”

I do not have a clear definition of what adventure is to me.

Some events are clearly an adventure going in. Others become adventures during the experience. Many it all depends on how you look at things.

In place of a definition, here is a list of possible “qualifications.” If your experience meets more than one, I would likely consider it an adventure. But remember: It’s all up to you!

  • Did you have a sense of wonder?
  • Did you laugh and have fun?
  • Visit somewhere new?
  • Were you scared or apprehensive about the experience?
  • Learn a new skill?
  • Try something new?
  • Do something for the first time?
  • Daydream about it before or after?
  • Meet someone new and exciting?
  • Grow as a person?
  • Did you bond with your child, your partner, or yourself?
  • Were you surprised?
  • Were you grateful for the experience?
  • Play?
  • Learn something new about yourself?
  • Did you take a U-turn?
  • Bring joy into your life and nourish your soul?
Adventures will look different for all of us.

The important thing is that you continue to grow and find joy!
